Re: S-buffer: how the Model 3 handles anti-aliasing and translucency
Resolution is effectively halved for translucent polygons. Is that really the case? You'd think we would be able to see that in video captures. I thought most early AA implementations basically just smoothed the edges of the polygons. To do that you would just need to store the angle of the slope. ...

Re: S-buffer: how the Model 3 handles anti-aliasing and translucency
Am I understanding this? - The sample points are on pixel boundaries (not center points). - Doesn't matter which side of the diagonal lines (polygon edges) the polygon is filled on because the colors at the sample points have already been rasterized (or more generally, let's say they are known or ca...

Re: S-buffer: how the Model 3 handles anti-aliasing and translucency
I believe the "S" stands for "span". As in a horizontal span of pixels (from left to right edge on the current line for the polygon). This is amazing insight, Matthew! The term was thrown around in the 90's possible inconsistently but I remember reading this document ages ago and...

Re: Model 3 official emulation on Yakuza games!
The sounds aren't emulated, they play samples directly. I've heard they removed the Dodge Viper pace car from Daytona 2, so if they did Scud Race, they'd have to change all the car models, too. In that case, it wouldn't be the same game, in my opinion. If I can't play as the McLaren, I don't want to...

Re: Flaming Ball issue in Virtual On OT (von254g)
A user by the name of Jerry Lee Lewis encountered this bug . von2 does something weird at boot up, creating lots of rendered objects by transferring data to the Real3D memory. Rendering is probably disabled on the real device when this happens but we don't emulate proper frame triggering yet and Sup...

Re: power edition bug
Are you saying that the JTAG clamp isn't being set? We no longer have any patches applied to Daytona 2. It's possible our JTAG implementation is not seeing the write because of how we implement it as a giant unified register instead of properly daisy chaining the ASICs.

Sega Racing Classic 2 ROM
Anyone up for trying to get src2 up and running in Supermodel? Not sure if it's possible. My initial attempt results in an invalid PowerPC instruction being hit after pressing the test button at the "Network Board Not Present" screen. The "Sega Racing Classic 2" ROM is named src2...

Re: Turn off SuperModel3 checksum check? (SRC2)
I found the ROMs as well. They are not in a format that can be loaded by Supermodel. They are packed into a "par" archive, and can be extracted using ParTool . Not all of the ROMs are present. Just the CROMs and VROM. I can probably write an xml entry that loads this and fills in the other...

Re: Model 3 official emulation on Yakuza games!
Explain to me like I'm a 7 year old: which of these games am I supposed to buy to find the Daytona 2 mini-game? dragon.jpg Its Like a Dragon Gaiden, the one that says Nov 8, 2023 as it was recently released. Infinite Wealth, which releases at the start of next year, will have VF3tb, SEGA Bass Fishi...
