Slight framedrops using the New 3D engine

Postby ferrarifan » Fri Aug 26, 2016 3:52 pm

For those who are active in the forums, has anyone notice and framedrops using the new 3D engine? When i started playing Daytona USA 2, slight drops occur most of the time. When Legacy is enabled i haven't experienced any framedrops. I'm sure this happens to anyone else. My PC specs is Intel i5 3210m @ 2.5 ghz(Turbo boost @ 3.1 ghz). Is this Normal?

Run it in windowed mode and watch the console. Does it start printing messages (new or deleted textures) around the time the frame rate drops?

Great. Now, when you see the frame rate dropping, is it always printing things to the console during that time? If so, it is the texture caching, which is more complicated in the new renderer. I think some of this is GPU-dependent (textures are being uploaded to the GPU) but I suspect it is dependent more on CPU and system bus speed. Ian would know best. Unfortunately, there isn't a fix for it. The new engine does what is has to do and there are no configuration settings to change texture management behavior.

So it has nothing to do with my Intel GPU or CPU with frame drops?
