Model 2 did indeed have a z-buffer, in addition to sorting and clipping with multiple implementations.

No idea how I didn't see this until today. :P

Model 2B-CRX, for which the manual is available, had no z-buffer at all. Since the system also lacked any sort of alpha blending (using stipple instead), there would have been no need for polygon sorting on top of a z-buffer. Model 2 is old school. It's nothing like modern 3D accelerators (post-1996, GPU-based, or OpenGL-compatible). Model 3 was somewhere halfway in between. It had many of the features of a modern system (Z buffering, some sort of stencil-like feature, one alpha blending mode) but wrapped around that was a high-level scene graph processor rather than a modern command-based interface.

Are you trying to do the Networking mode? If yes, then add this line to the Supermodel.ini

EmulateNet=1
port_in = 1970
port_out = 1970
addr_out = "127.0.0.1"

Create a shortcut and add this line "-no-threads" (without quotations)
