The shadow bug is interesting

It's possible the step 1.0 h/w only supported one transparency plane. I guess I can test this out :)

Do you have a comparison to the real hardware? It's possible it was just modeled like this

Well the reason they overlap is because .. they are different priority layers
Red = layer 2
everything else is layer 1

I assume that's just a game bug because that means the feet can't draw over the of the rest of the player characters ...

I might be able to fix the shadow overlap issue. Needs a kind of architectural change to how I'm currently handling transparent layers

Does this situation ever occur during the attract mode? If so I could maybe test it out next time I'm in Reno with my Model 3 board.

I dont know it might happen in attract mode if you leave it to run long enough. Maybe until it reaches that level
But I know 100% those shadows won't overlap on the real hardware.

I'm currently compositing the transparency after each priority layer, which means transparent elements in different layers can overlap. On the real hardware it doesn't work this way. The composition only happens right at the end. So there really is only 1 layer of transparency, even across multiple different priority layers.

This bug is one of those rare corner cases where what im doing doesn't quite work :p

Thanks, comparison with actual arcade is useful :) Good to know that missing polygon also happens on the real hardware

but it's a very old error ever since (version 0.1)
It's almost invisible at speed (300Km / h) :D

Daytona Usa 2 BoTE does not contain the sky(1/3)
Daytona Usa 2 Power Edition does not display the DREAMCAST logo (billboard)
