sega rally 2 packed separate tracks into the left/right channels. Before they both played which sounded a garbled mess, now they play properly. Custom tracks can still work, but maybe not quite as before

Thanks for the updated build, Jit!
Meanwhile I also found out why I'm getting that "audio lag" effect even if games run rock solid -- apparently it's a problem or setting with my external USB sound card that I've been using (I have a Creative Sound Blaster Play!3 card because the volume of my laptop's on-board card sucks). When I loaded Harley, it was crackling all the time after about 15-20 minutes of play, but then I plugged my headphones into the laptop port, and now the sounds are clean :)

was that a trick question ?

like i said,i regain those lost fps if i go back to the default frequency (50 ?) from 66
so,out of curiosity,am i to assume that increasing the ppu frequency put more strain on the gpu ? or the cpu ? both ?
i will rollback to r755 for now , i will upgrade both the cpu and the gpu in the not so distant future

one last thing :
a while ago i asked you about this
viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1602&p=15571#p15570
i could finally test that change in the new rev and,yes,it works perfectly
the stats can be clearly displayed now,no more garbage in the background,etc etc
thank you !

The big change after 755 was the alpha compositing, which is purely a GPU-bound thing as far as I can tell. What sort of CPU do you have? I'm surprised a change from 50 to 66 MHz has any noticeable impact. You aren't running in single threaded mode or anything strange like that, are you?

Try reducing the resolution to something like 320x240
and see what fps u get then
I think i know whats causing the slow path on AMD GPU hardware but not a lot I can do to fix it

and

DirectInputVibrateMax=100
XInputConstForceThreshold=30
XInputConstForceMax=100

320x240

well,not quite 320x240 but same result even when i decrease the resolution

like i said,reducing the ppc frequency fixes the problem

i'm not using an amd gpu if that was in response to my issue ?

it's okay though,i was going to upgrade my hardware anyway
just making sure this isn't some anomaly or weird bug etc

and,btw,the cave stage bgm (vf3-vf3tb) no longer dies after a few seconds so that's another issue fixed . good stuff

Bumping this from December 2018. The Death Star tunnel portion of the Endor bonus level for Star Wars Trilogy is dark (as in, the textures are completely missing) again, and appears to have something to do with the JTAG interface. Ian had said as much in a 3/2018 post, and testing the various versions shows exactly when it broke. The last working revision I can find where it worked with the New3D engine was v647, but on v673 it was dark again. Not surprisingly, commit v672 specifically mentions this JTAG interface and some work that was done with it. I thought I would just stick with v647, but the vast amount of graphical improvements makes it hard to go backwards. Using the legacy renderer DOES show the wall textures, but that's not a great alternative, either.

Lastly - Ian had fixed this (albeit on a temporary level) from New3D v609 by adding this code to New3D v610:

if (m_step > 0x15 && !ph.TranslatorMap()) { // star wars seems to treat the values as unsigned. This logic is guess work
shade = ((ix & 0xFF) / 255.f) + offset;
}
else {
shade = (((ix + 128) & 0xFF) / 255.f) + offset; // dirt devils and mag truck, black seems to come out at 50% brightness instead. Still unknown exactly what effects this
}

If I thought I could just insert that back somewhere in the v775 New3D.cpp and recompile I would do so, but I highly doubt that would work. But I'd fix this myself if I knew which code to put where (assuming it's a simple fix).

I've uploaded a v775 save state to start just as you enter the tunnel, and a reminder that New3DEngine = 1 (or just not in the .ini at all, since it's the default) must be used for the glitch to show. A screen cap of the problem is also attached. Thanks!

doteater: You've got a 2.9 GHz CPU. I'm surprised that you are CPU bound like this. Can anyone else with a sub-3GHz CPU chime in about their experience?
