The 90's Arcade Racer: Not dead

Postby MrThunderwing » Sun Aug 21, 2016 6:51 am

So, looks like the 90's Arcade Racer might not be dead after all.

Absolutely NO useful information about this on the Nicalis twitter feed though about release dates or release platforms despite the pretty picture. Some stuff on another forum I found suggested that the PC version had been canned, something I would've been mightily hacked off about as that was the version I'd funded, but it sounds like that's not the case, but it sounds like the news might not be so peachy for Wii U owners. Nicalis really do seem like complete and utter incompetent fucktards with regards to keeping their end consumers up-to-date with what's going on with their product. I've been tempted to ask for my money back after backing this on Kickstarter 4 YEAR AGO, but I'm still holding out a bit of hope I might just get to play it eventually...

How much did you give them?

I think the graphics are pleasant but haven't seen anything to say there's going to be a game in there.

Are there any current kickstarters worth investing in?

Hmmm, good question, it's been so long I can't actually remember. I think I gave them something like £15 or £20. I've no idea about other Kickstarters, this one was enough to put me off them for life.

Yeah, let's hope it's not just fancy graphics and no sustenance. The last trailer for it did look pretty spiffy though.

I happily backed the kickstarter and to be honest, I'm happy waiting. It's great to see it's still (potentially) on the way.

From what I could tell the first 2 years or so were delays from the developer, which I think are fair enough otherwise it would of been a very simple and cut down game. The remaining delays seem to of been the publisher, as the dev went on to make the TakeOver (which is really fun).

I understand the angry backers, but if I get a bit of a new Daytona fix then I'm happy to wait. It's been so many years now it'll just be a nice surprise when it's done ;)

It's positive, at least...even though (my) interest has a slight decrease, mainly I'm doing stuff non-Supermodel related.

There's the potential...now we wait for the execution.

I see they changed the Wii U port to Switch, which isn't a surprise seeing how they were basically on there from day 1 with Binding of Isaac and Cave Story...
