Do y'all think an i3 is good enough?

Postby ferrarifan » Sun Dec 25, 2016 5:42 am

I'm planning on upgrading because the New 3D renderer requires a fast CPU.The i3-4170 is clocked at 3.70 GHZ. Even though many PC gamers always using i5 and i7 processors because of it's performance like turbo boost feature for example. Do you guys think this processor can handle this emulator? It's a very cheap processor that i ever seen. Great affordable price for a powerful processor. :)

I run Supermodel on a 15-inch Asus laptop with the Nvidia GeForce 940M and a newer i5 processor (dual-core). Works perfectly fine on at least Harley. The emulator ran pretty decent on my old 2009 Asus desktop with a Core2 Quad and GeForce GT 220 when I got the computer 5 years ago, but I sold that PC in 2014.

You should be able to get away with an integrated gfx card
Model3 games don't really push that many polys (especially compared to todays games)
The shader code isn't particularly long or complicated

The most important part is really a good CPU. Probably true for most emulators.

AMD single core performance is unfortunately quite poor
Maybe this will change with AMD Zen
