SEGA games scared me as a kid

Postby Alans_Coffee » Sat Mar 23, 2019 2:39 pm

Howdy again :) Gonna share a story from my own experiences with SEGA games.

I grew up going to a lot of arcades, including Chuck E. Cheese's, Peter Piper Pizza, Main Event, Gatti's, and even some kind of arcade park. There were so many games to choose from, but I was too scared to play some of them because of this silly fear I had. Somehow I was convinced that video game characters were real, and I was too scared to hurt them by letting the enemies attack, or upset them by failing to complete the objective(s). Particularly games like Emergency Call Ambulance, where your time is limited and you're racing to the hospital to deliver patients (too many driving errors will cause the patient to die). Same for Brave Fire Fighters, when I felt really guilty after being unable to save a person engulfed in flames. I guess it makes sense why I was afraid of these games though, since they were games with realistic premises and visuals.
On the other hand, the train that chases after you in Magical Truck Adventure scared me as well, since it seemed so massive on the screen (now that I think about it, the size of that train was pretty realistic too lol)

So there's a silly story. I wonder if anyone else here has had a similar experience :D

Yeah the same thing happened to me too. You get that Adrenaline Rush from the action games like Daytona USA when the Wheel rumbles back and forth. Plus your car will gain momentum on each time you turn corners. Your car is so fast, you'll start crashing if you didn't notice it.
