After struggling with controller problem i decided to screw it and map (almost) all the controls to keyboard then use a keymapping software to map that to controller

Issue is Supermodel still detects the controller so is there any way to force it to stop doing that?

This doesn’t make sense to me. We need more details. What controller? What problem were you having? Paste your Supermodel.log as well as your Supermodel.ini here.

the emulator will on and off (mainly off) just not detect my Ps4 controller
I have to shut everything, unplug and replug to get it to work
even then its only good till i exit
so I'm just gonna map everything i use in game to keyboard
then use another 3rd party program to map my keyboard to controller

ok I fixed most of my config problems,
the issue was some inputs were conflicting

Now the only problem i have left is my controller failing to detect in its entirety, I can workaround this with a keymapper but some driving games become difficult

Image

eg with this setting I can still play driving games even if my controller doesnt detect, by mapping A and D to Left and right on the controller Dpad
So its a toss up whether i get to use the left stick to steer on that particular play session :(

This is weird. Isn't a PS4 controller just a DirectInput device? Try "supermodel -config-inputs" to configure it rather than hand-editing the config file. Follow the instructions very carefully. Make sure the blank Supermodel window is selected but follow the prompts in the command window. This is the right way to set up input devices but you do need to use the command line to run it.

Also note you should have your controller plugged in *before* you launch the emulator. I would assume that goes without saying but you never know...

Yea i have it plugged in before anything,
Supermodel.zip

the problem is that the first game launched works fine, then if i exit and try relaunching the game or another game its a toss up on whether the controller will fail or not

I have a hunch it might be the UI (I'm using https://forums.launchbox-app.com/topic/ ... by-nuexzz/)
But i cant test because for some reason all my attempts to use the command line just lead to Error: Could not open [game].zip

did you read this bit,
https://github.com/trzy/Supermodel/blob ... E.txt#L493

The README.txt may be a little outdated but the overall advice still stands.
