I wanted to play the game with a joystick, keeping in spirit of the arcade experience. I also had the reversed lightsaber battles.

In order to have inverse joystick controls and proper lightsaber control, I only set JOY Y AXIS INV, and leaving the service menu control at up>up, down>down. I didn't needed to change the cabinet style from DX to upright, but I did turn off the feedback lever.

Now I have flight style cockpit control and correct lightsaber control. I did have to initially use the mouse to bring the crosshair to the center of the screen (it was at the far right) but once I did that, the crosshair starts at the center, even with reboots.

So a friend of mine on YouTube has somehow cracked the code to getting the controls for Star Wars Trilogy Arcade in Supermodel to work properly during both the shooting mode and the Lightsaber battles!
I just defeated Boba Fett and Darth Vader for the first time since 2002!

It's a simple process.

Simply edit Supermodel.ini to

InputAnalogJoyX = "MOUSE_XAXIS_INV"
InputAnalogJoyY = "MOUSE_YAXIS_INV"

Then start the game and enter Test Mode, then choose Calibration Test and change the lever setting to: up -> down, down -> up

Finally, and this is the most important step, now back out of Calibration Test and go to Game Assignments.
From there, change the Cabinet Type to "U/R"

DONE! Enjoy the full game where Up means Up and Down means Down the entire time!

:D

Not having played Star Wars Trilogy Arcade before, but I knew I wanted mouse controls to move exactly as they should. Just followed everything here and nothing seemed inverted in all the missions. Thanks.
