Supermodel.ini

Postby qwertymio » Wed Sep 28, 2011 4:05 pm

Assumption: THIS EMULATOR IS GREAT!! is something i thought i would have never seen.. really outstanding.
I love the win version but i want to use it non the mac too!
I have some problems regarding the Supermodel.ini file on the mac version downloaded from the download section:
i really can't understand why it doesn't read the ini file at all.
If i try the -config-inputs and I configure the control it works but only in that "session" of the emulator and at the end of the control configuration there's an error "can't save Supermodel.ini file.." but the controls do work (only for that session).

Any guess? This is the only real problem, for the rest it works considerably better than the win ver on the same machine in bootcamp.
I have Lion (latest patched version)

Thanks.

Does the Config/ directory exist?

Is anyone else seeing this problem on Mac? The error your getting means either it cannot open the file for writing or it cannot re-open the file after writing, closing, and then attempting to open it for reading again.

In the Supermodel directory, can you run 'ls -lR' please, and paste the output here?

It works fine in my Mac version. Make sure you have a Config folder (on a writeable disk) in the Supermodel folder.

Does the config process tell you that the settings were saved to the .ini once you press 'q' to launch the game?

What they said. Not sure if Arbee added the folder structure in the archive but maybe a last revision would be in order to save future confusion.

The current download has the exact folder structure from the Windows version, and other Mac users have reported being able to save settings.

I would assume the permissions are somehow jammed for this user.

"Error: Unable to save configuration to 'Config/Supermodel.ini'"
This is the exact error but i do have the config folder and the Supermodel.ini file and i have downloaded the updated pack with the folder and config file.
The strange thing is that after this error the emulator starts correctly and the control settings are applied. If i shut down the emulator i have to redo everything every time.
I checked the file properties and it is not blocked or something, from finder i can open it and modify but when i open supermodel it does not read it.
I also tried to move the supermodel folder (containing the Config folder) from the root of iMac HD to the document folder but the problem occurs in this folder to.
I really don't understand what's wrong.

But when it runs it is incredible!! :-)

Thanks!

Give us an 'ls -alR' from the Supermodel directory.

I forgot to mention that for launching i open the terminal and then i DRAG and DROP the supermodel executable on the terminal window and the rom too adding at the end the params, maybe that is the problem but i don't know.
Also i try adding some files from the win ver (no changes)

Sorry but i'm a totally noob of mac terminal...

Thanks

I always assumed that dragging and dropping would launch from the executable's folder, but I think that may not be the case. Stop doing that and see if it works. You were able to run 'ls' as I asked, so you're clearly competent enough to be able to run Supermodel from the terminal ;)

./Supermodel rom_file.zip -whatever-other-options-you-want

Wait, you drag and drop on the terminal? Give me a screenshot of what the result looks like. I'm guessing when you open the terminal, you are not in the Supermodel directory and then it does something like:

>/SupermodelFolder/Supermodel /ROMFolder/scud.zip

You can probably do this but you have to be in the Supermodel directory (get there using 'cd' like you would to issue the 'ls' command above).
