i am quite busy these week and have no time to spend on supermodel :(
i am planning to beat marubaku's lap record for scud race, but it would not be easy as their video shows perfect driving skills and they know the game very very well
for scud race expert course, my best lap time is about 49:xx and their lap time is 46-47

That marubaku video on the expert course is insane!
I don't think I will ever come close to being that good.

I hope you do it! Good Luck!

When it comes to Daytona 2 BOTE, I can boast a time of 2'15"02 on Beginner (on an actual arcade cabinet). It still pales compared to Marubaku's run on Power Edition.

I don't have any decent times on Advanced or Expert, I always end up making at least one big mistake every race (on Advanced, usually the last corner).

Ironically, first place on the beginner track is more of a challenge due to all the traffic. I typically play with the hard level car on that course.

First the worst, second the best, as the old saying goes ;)

Also, FWIW, I actually prefer Power Edition over the original Battle on the Edge version. I like the dome-less beginner course better and I can finally put my finger on the reason why. The dome and other large objects in the background lessen the sensation of speed because they appear to move more slowly due to parallax. The newer layout with its fast-moving foreground objects and open sky feels less claustrophobic. The first person engine noise for the black hard-level car sounds much better as well in Power Edition.

Hey Bart, is that using a wheel or pad? Great that you finally get to enjoy your own emulator at the correct speed now.

I'm using an Xbox pad -- and I was too lazy to change the saturation. Indeed, it is a bit touchy on Scud Race, but once you get used to it, it's not bad, and I do find myself using the full range when drifting. Rather than mapping the pedals to the analog L/R triggers, I map them to two buttons for now. Precise control of the accelerator is somewhat important when drifting (sometimes you want the pedal only partway depressed to avoid spinning out) but this can be crudely approximated by tapping. Seems to work very comfortably.

This is my current fastest time on the beginner course in Daytona 2 PE, though not my best lap (which is 16"823)

my best as of today is 2'17"'273 on the beginner and my lap record is 0'16"871
As far as lap's and times I can do better.. I'm trying to get that 2:14 or 2:13 or a lower average laps of 16 seconds..
Ill be posting a link to my video of that 2'17"373 run.

BTW I'm running this on a Mac Pro in Snow Leopard 10.6.7 with an X360 controller.. Currently looking to get a G27 so I can get much better at this game!!! Will upload a screenshot later on today when I upload a link to my video.

UPDATE: Here's the video...

this weekend I feel like I can get a good advanced lap. I'm now able to hit that first big left turn on the advanced track at 300kph goign thru.. close to the Marukabu drift. ;) :o :o

This weekend I will post an Advanced run... I've figured out how to take the turns at high speeds. I'm working on a way to ull off that insane "Marubaku" drift on that final left turn. The first turn is actually easy to maintain 300kph while drifing into the second check point and can be obtained without braking.. "Just follow the skidmarks on the payment.. but I need serious help on that last curve.. I've been trying to master the "moving the grass" technique that they use but after thousands of tries.. I have yet to mow the grass and turn sideways at over 300kph average through out the whole turn.. Any help anyone?

I've been curious about the last turn on that course myself. I can do fine with the normal level car but I can never pull it off with the expert car.

When I record the video i will break down what i have been doing. My concept is this.. before the turn begins.. I let my 2 left tires touch the grass, hard left+2nd gear and as soon as car goes side ways, I stop steering and shift back into 4.. the car is then pointing to the grass but I cut the corner at a good angle and still able to accelerate.. Its somewhat what marubaku is doing but much slower.. i get the car down to 270kph (they are doing 290kph) and when youre in the middle of the turn you can begin turning left hard and the car isnt giving you that stupid instant 360 spin out.. the first left turn.. after i have play it soo many times.. I got it down.. My fastest lap is a upper 42 sec and theirs are 40.. not too bad.. but its really all about that last turn.. I will eventually get it right and come up with a way to do it.. Ive been trying to see if i could let my car slightly touch the outside corners grass and hard left.. the car will drift.. but if I gear grift.. i dont get the car into the inside corner at the angle i need to clear the corner at high speeds.. I will work more on that turn before the weekend.. hopefully by then I'm getting 2:53's on that course (in traffic)
