Will the website be updated?

Postby terminento » Thu Jun 20, 2019 12:31 pm

The last piece of news published on the main site was from 2013, and the version available for downlaod there was 0.2a. The current version emulator is WAAAY ahead of that, and it has evolved and improved in such a way that for some games it has practically achieved perfection, quad rendering and all!
I think it would be good for the webpage to have a more up to date verion of the emu on the downloads section, and a piece of news refelcting how much has been achieved. I know most of us visit the forums regularly and are up to date, but seeing that video that Eurogamer's Digital Foundry retro did on Daytona USA, and it was such a pity to see that they were using the 0,2a version, with the untextured rival cars (a problem that had long already been solved by that point in time) and the thousands of improvements that have been done ever since.

Many people will just enter the main page, see it's not updated, then settle for the 0.2a version, and that's kinda sad.

What do you guys think?

I agree. This also needs a Discord page like Teknoparrot and Demul.

I hear you guys. I was working on updating README.txt but got bogged down when it came to compatibility and ROM sets. Then I got very busy at work again. I cannot make a release, contribute code, nor update the web site in any meaningful way until I get formal approval from my employer. The legal team was devising new procedures for open source project approval last I checked a few months ago but I can submit a new application next week. It may take a few months for approval to arrive and there is also a good chance that it will be denied. We will just have to wait and see.

Man that's really crazy. I kinda understand not being able to do open source code .. but not even able to update the website.

Oh! So sorry to hear that! Man... that sucks!
Here's hoping that your employer listens to reason and gives you approval.
I hope I didn't come off as demanding or unpolite, I'm very, very, VERY grateful for the work all of you guys have done. Supermodel is a wonder of emulation and it is a dream come true for all Sega and videogame fans. Thank you very much for all the hard work.

Posting a status update is one thing but cutting a release is clearly off limits without approval. I’d like to get it sorted. If it is not possible I will have to hand off the project for the duration of my employment.

Don't worry, Bart, I think the people here in the forum understands the situation, no need to rush things or anything.
