Daytona2/Scud stuck on "THIS IS MASTER CONTROLLER"

Hi!

I've compiled supermodel on linux (ubuntu 22.04) with NET_BOARD=1. Rev. git hash 015e8e921254210b66f1e83ed22f6a4c08759a19.

I start supermodel with:

$ ./supermodel -net /path/to/daytona2.zip

The game boots, but then gets stuck in this initial testing screen that has "THIS IS MASTER CONTROLLER" at the bottom.

I can't figure out how to move past this screen. Pressing "6" on the keyboard shows the "TEST MENU", and then I can press "5" to move selection, so the emulation isn't crashed somewhere.

I get the same thing with scud.zip.

Virtua Striker 2 loads and plays fine. Maybe it's really only related to network-aware games.

If I try daytona2 or scud with "-no-net", the initial test screen shows instead "CANCELED \n NETWORK BOARD NOT PRESENT".

I am probably missing something obvious. What I am missing?

You need to enter the test menu and change the game to Single. By default they are in link mode.

Sorry for not replying sooner. I didn't get an email notification (maybe I need to configure that), and so I missed your reply.

I just wanted to say thank you. Being a coder myself, I had assumed it was something to do with the recent-ish network emulation code, but that was a red herring. I should have read the FAQ before posting here.

Thanks for this awesome emulator, and thank you for making it free/open source. I actually used it frequently around the 2012 era, but then the machine where I had it setup died and then life got in the way all these years and I was finally again excited about getting it all up and running. I must have stumbled on this same issue back then, but obviously I forgot. :-)
