After I got done with Sega Rally 2 I decided to come back to Daytona 2 PE to finally learn how to use the Phantom Full Force (Hard Level Car) on a track that isn't the Beginner course, since I've never managed to even complete Advanced course's 4 laps with it in the past. On christmas I got my first 1st place win versus the CPU with it while doing a terrible time, so then I went on to practice on timelap mode until I got this:

Advanced 2'52'158

I could have done a better time, but I messed up at the very end because I couldn't control my emotions  still I'm happy with this progress considering I couldn't picture coming close to this a couple of days ago

Ha, been there mate, especially with stuff like Scud Race and Daytona 2, where it's just so easy to make a mistake. I've had times I've been recording gameplay for ages and then I'll get that run where you get like 3 perfect laps and I feel the panic setting in and I think to myself, 'OK, just don't fuck up the 4th lap' and then I'll immediately fuck up the 4th lap...

Yeah man, its incredibly frustrating when you've been attempting and recording for hours, the feeling of "if you don't screw this up now you'll finally be free" makes it hard to not get nervous on the final moments.
Unrelated to racing games but related to this feeling: I used to get that a lot back when I'd play arcade shooters, especially in games like Metal Slug where runs can take around 45 minutes, you really don't want to get a gameover at the very end if you are attempting to beat them in one credit.

Holy shit dude, you've just summed it up perfectly. That point where it actually stopped being enjoyable about 2 hours beforehand and you're rocking backwards and forwards in front of your monitor going "Why am I still dooooing this?!?!?!"

fefor wrote:Its been a month since the last time I posted, since then I managed to learn two more model 3 games, Scud Race and Sega Rally 2.

I ended up struggling with Scud Race more than I ever expected, I managed to beat all courses on manual but I'm still not a fan of how the drifting acceleration and handling overall works on this game :| especially those wheelies that happen after jumping, its so easy to lose control! but oh well its a great game and a SEGA classic, I mostly decided to play this due to nostalgia since I used to play it a lot back in the day on versus mode on the beginner courses.

Edit: I think the reason I didn't love the gameplay is because I wanted it to play exactly like Daytona USA 2, doing drifts just using the shifter and doing 2-4 or 2-3-4

Now for Sega Rally 2, unlike the first Sega Rally, I actually never had the luck to play this in real life, and let me tell ya I fell in love with the game despite not being that much into it at first, I spent the last 3 weeks playing it non stop and I grinded it till I got a time record I'm happy with.

Anyways here's some gameplay:

Scud Race all courses: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uEc-tuV9pGM

Sega Rally 2 current PB: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJl-MuQn6lE

I think my maximum potential for SR2 would be 4'06"XX but I think I'm done for now

great driving - learning a lot from those videos.
care to share you g29 settings for degrees/sensitivity?
struggling with handling / drift control... snow seems impossible to me.

thanks in advance

Hola Abe! I am in awe of the way you can just so casually get a 1st place on Scud Race's Advanced stage on your first attempt.
