I checked out SVN 803 to play around with compiling and stuff. Just to see if I could I updated GLEW to 2.1.0. Everything seems to run fine.

The copyright notice on the version of GLEW in the SVN 803 project is dated 2008 so I assume that version is 1.5.1
That version note is:
[11-03-08] GLEW 1.5.1 adds support for OpenGL 3.0 and 31 new extensions

This new version note:
[07-31-17] GLEW 2.1.0 adds support for OpenGL 4.6, new extensions and minor bug fixes

Supermodel basically uses opengl 2.1. The quad rendering path uses opengl 4.5 or 4.6 but it doesn't use any function pointers beyond 2.1 if that makes sense.
But yes it wouldn't hurt to update glew

Gotcha. That makes sense.
