You have to set the bar to mode 4, then, once you start dolphin, you go to the wiimote configuration menu, there should be an area for a "real wiimote" (instead of entering the "emulated wiimote menu") You just have to press "refresh" and / or "pair up". The wiimote should rumble once, indicating that it has been paired up with the emulator and therefor there is no need to configure anything else: it will behave like it would on a real wii. Tested it with "New Super Mario Bros Wii" and it worked like a charm.

Regarding a list of on rails shooter games that can be used with the dolphinbar, either as a mouse emulating device (mode 2) or within Dolphin (mode 4), here are the games I could come up with so far, of course some of them have several ports available, but I avoided those if I managed to get the original one to work fine, or in favor of the best / easiest to run version (like THOTD overkill, which is available on wii, but has a superior PC port):

On Supermodel (obviously):
-The Lost World
-The Ocean Hunter
-L.A. Machineguns
-Star Wars Trilogy

On model 2 emulator:
-Virtua Cop
-Virtua Cop 2
-The House of the Dead
-N.Y. Machineguns

On MAME:
-Lethal Enforcers
-Area 51
-Hogan's Alley
-Duck Hunt
-Wild Gunman (if you get it to work, that is. The NES version is roughly the same, though)
-Alien 3 The Gun (need to set the analog input to mouse movements)
-Jurassic Park (same as Alien 3, insanely hard, though)
-Crypt Killer (Psx version available in case your CPU is enough)
-Time Crisis (needs beefy CPU, PSX version is pretty good though)
-Point Blank (same as the above)

On PC:
(Haven't actually tried these, but I don't see any reason why they shouldn't work)
-The House of the Dead 2
-The House of the Dead 3 (pretty decent port, runs better than the wii version)
-The House of the Dead Overkill (it is included in the PC version of The Typing of the Dead Overkill from the get go)
-Rambo The Videogame (wanted to try the bar with it, but it crashed on boot up. I guess it's a drivers issue, as I completed the game before on this same PC)
(There are also PC ports of both Virtua Cop titles and HOTD, but they are based on the Saturn versions and, given that the originals look way better on Model 2 emu, there's little to no reason to pick these above the originals. Virtua Cop 2 has an extra area in the subway, though)

On Dolphin:
-The House of the Dead 2&3 return (HOTD2 is actually a better port than the PC one)
-Ghost Squad
-Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles
-Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
-Dead Space Extraction
-Links Crossbow training
-Target: Terror

On Pcsx2:
(Most of these games require that a virtual guncon or a virtual mouse be set up via nuvee ps2 usb plugin, which might be a little cumbersome to configure, specially in regards to calibration. The upside is that there's lots of games of the genre on the system)
-Vampire Night
-Time Crisis II
-Time Crisis 3
-Crisis Zone
-Ninja Assault
-Virtua Cop Elite Edition (a remaster of shorts of the first two Virtua Cop games, I find it a bit uninspired on the visual department when compared to the colorful originals)
-Gunfighter II: Revenge of Jesse James
-Endgame
-Police 24/7
-Resident Evil Gun Survivor 2 (although I prefer playing this with a Dual Shock using "Type E" controls)
-Dino Stalker (Fun game but somewhat cumbersome to control)
-Resident Evil Dead Aim (easier to control using a controller and a USB mouse than the Guncon, actually)

Those are the ones I can come up with. I'm sure there are many others.

Thanks for the list terminento. When I get some free time I'm going to try and get Dolphin up and running.

With regards to PCSX2 I had a hell of a time trying to get that to work because of the Nuvee plugin. It should come preloaded with different configs but the version I downloaded didn't. Took a search of old forums etc to locate the right version. It often needs a lot of calibration but it's well worth it considering the games. I think I posted earlier that Vampire Night is brilliant.

this script works very well with glovepie outside of games but for some reason the sensitivity is way too high in steam games. is there any way to adjust the sensitivity and deadzone?

Micro bump.

When I originally set this up with Supermodel3 I found that only the A and B buttons were usuable. This meant the Event button in Star Wars Trilogy had to be mapped to one of the firing buttons. It was a small thing and didn't really matter in most parts of the game except for the endor on foot section, as to call the Ewoks you would have to fire and risk losing the multiplier.

However last night I discovered that the "+" button on the Wiimote is a "return" keyboard press. So in the ini file I changed the Event button mapping to "KEY_RETURN" and now it's mapped to the "+" button on the Wiimote. This means there are 3 buttons available for mapping in Supermodel3 using the dolphin bar when originally I thought there were only 2.

Maybe some of you already knew this.

No I didn't!
I was never able to get the timing right for all the ewoks, but being able to separate the event button is a welcome adittion. It could also be used as a P1start button when playing The Lost World! I now have both B and A as trigger and reload, and I was using the keyboard to restart every time I died.
I was trying some wii shooters the other day on dolphin using my shotgun accesory and, since I had my dolphinbar already connected, I decided to play a game of Lost World. It's just so much fun!
Oh! I also tried to see if it worked with Rambo, the videogame, but unfortunately it doesn't.
(Might update the list and offer a comprehensive one with all the Wii rail shooters that I've gotten to try since then)

I've been wanting to use the Wiimote on the PC for lightguns games for awhile now but have never gotten it to work. I am just using a cheap USB Bluetooth adapter and I have both motionplus and non motionplus remotes. I have only tried the non motionplus as I had read it was harder to get a motionplus one to work. I always had a really hard time getting them connected to the PC. I think the only way I was ever able to do it was connecting them through Dolphin. That was fine for Wii lightgun games but I really want to use it with Virtua Cop 1&2.

Currently what is the best way to do this? What is the best software to use?

I use the Mayflash dolphinbar accesory, which was designed specifically for this purpose.
It has a mode that works in tandem with dolphin, as in, plug it on a USB port, sync the wiimote to it (only needs to be done once, once the wiimote is synced to the bar it remains synced), open Dolphin, select real wiimote, no config needed.
But it also has another mode (modes are selected with physical buttons on the bar itself) which reads the wiimote imputs and translates them to mouse inputs, which means that you can use the wiimote as a mouse pointer on screen and also on any non Dolphin on rails shooter.

BTW, I got me almost every Wii on rails shooter available, so I might update my list pretty soon (the Nerf duology game -NStrike Double Blast- is awesome!)

I'd be interested to see the list updated with Wii games. I gave Attack of the Movies 3D a play last night... it's not great, but not too bad either for a rail shooter. I have the Nerf Elite blaster or whatever it's called, haven't played it yet.

Regarding only being able to map to certain buttons on the wiimote, you can map to any button using touchmote. Only seen that program brought up once in the thread from what Ive seen. Real easy to get working. My setup is an arcade cabinet so instead of using keyboard to break immersion I have start, coin 1 as the 1 2 buttons. Event button is the A button. Also anyone wanting to take this to the next level I just bought a dual trigger lightgun for the wii.

https://www.amazon.com/dreamGEAR-Bundle ... B01DBZJ4LQ

Recommend this gun over the other with only one trigger as now you have two easy trigger buttons to use for shooting and reloading.

With two Wiimotes and a Dolphin bar, is it possible to control 2 players with The Lost World? Is there a way to define 2 mice with Supermodel3?
