Xbox Series Controller - can't find inputs?

Postby 2DForever » Wed Feb 02, 2022 7:19 am

Hello!

I've recently got a lovely new Xbox Series Controller. Basically the same as an xbox one controller, but with some minor changes. For the most part it works fine with Supermodel, but it cannot find the triggers at all. This is on MacOS 12.1, using a slightly older Supermodel revision 833.

Using
Code: Select all
-config-inputs
works for everything apart from the L/R triggers. It's as if Supermodel can't find them at all. I've tried manually changing config.ini with various other testers but no luck.

Some other gamepad tools seem to struggle finding them too, but the majority of other apps do (Steam, for example, has no problem). They also seem to be labelled different things in different apps, just to confuse things further. Sometimes labelled as buttons 17 + 18, sometimes Axis 5 + 6. These options don't seem to work when adding them manually to config.ini.

I wondered if there was some magic I could input to enable Supermodel to find other inputs?? Any help would be appreciated!

That's odd. Unfortunately, on Mac OS and Linux, there aren't any additional input systems to try. If SDL2 doesn't recognize it, there isn't anything left to try. Is your SDL2 library up to date? Maybe it's a bug that ought to be raised with them if it can be confirmed to affect other SDL2-based apps.

Hiya Bart, thanks for the suggestion! I installed the latest just in case but still no dice. Certainly a good point about SDL2, I'll see if I can flag it with them :)

Alternatively it'll be some kind of key reaper situation to get it working - anyway, I'll post an update if I find anything good!

Definitely let us know what you find :) As it stands, there just aren't many knobs to play with on Mac OS and Linux because only the SDL2 input system is available.
