Are the Sega Rally prototypes even complete dumps?
They have their own sound and mpeg programs but no sound and music ROMs.

If you build a "hybrid" zip file using srally2 and the prototype sound/mpeg programs (and edit the xml file so it runs), you end up with an audio mess.

None of the sounds line up and the old sound bug comes back, 2 songs playing at once in the left and right channel.

So if the prototypes did boot, would they still be broken? Or do the CROMs control the correct sound selection?

I suppose the proto dumps are complete, srally2 is noted as the parent of these 2 proto dumps

As long as the prototypes don't boot, we can't know about old sound bug

I also think that these prototypes are functional, they had to be dumped from working machines..on which they test..

They are very rare prototypes. A lot has been written about this game on Model 3. There were also interviews with the creators (AM5) even when it started to be produced. In these magazines, the first pictures from this game will be published.
Maybe even directly from these prototypes ..

I admit my knowledge of how Model3 hardware works is zero, or any machine for that matter.

Only I built a "hybrid" zip file version of Daytona a couple of years ago, using the graphics of the second game, with the sounds from the first. (The best of both worlds

)
I noticed I had to copy the sounds program with the sound ROMs to get the sounds to line up, so I just assumed the sounds program maps the correct sounds.
So when I tried with Rally protos and the parent ROM, the misalignment made me think things weren't quite right.

, after compiling with romcenter,(MAME) almost all games work with the current one (Games.xml)

You just need to change Lostwsgo.zip to Lostwsgp.zip
(MAME is officially marked as a prototype Jurassic park)
