Nice!
Sega has made interesting hardware back in those days, the model 1, naomi, and don't forget the all custom hikaru!

Cool. Wonder if there's any big differences between the prototype and the finished product?

We have gotten a lot of cool Sega arcade prototypes dumped emulated lately: House of the Dead 1, Star Wars Trilogy, and now this.
I remember seeing early screenshots of the game with a copyright of 1997 instead of '98, and it looked similar to the original Sega Rally. Hope to see more prototypes in the future.

wait, there is a star wars trilogy prototypes? is it playable on supermodel?

I suppose HOTD1 prototype will never work on model 2 emulator...

Someone dumped a Star Wars Trilogy prototype recently, used for the 1998 JAMMA show in Japan I think. Apparently it only has 2 levels. I'm not sure if it is supported on Supermodel but I'm sure it will in the near future.

As far as the HotD1 prototype, it IS possible to load it in Model 2 Emulator. You need a hex-editing tool (recommend HXD) and CRC manipulator. A friend of mine (egregiousguy) helped me modify the prototype ROMs from MAME, combine some together, change the CRC values and names to match the regular House of the Dead roms, and made sure the ROMs are the EXACT same size as the regular version. Here's one of his videos of it running in M2:

I'm certain this was probably used for the AOU Show in February 1997 or maybe a location test demo unit back in late 1996 (before being officially released in March). Initially the textures in stage 2 were corrupt but he was able to fix them using the regular version's textures.

The star wars trilogy prototype does work in supermodel. But I think it might only run at half speed

SW trilogy proto was easier, it was not hard to make patch to avoid hang during FFB testing.
Sega Rally 2 is harder case, I was unable to make patch using simple "pattern matching" method, because proto code is quite different compared to final game.
It will be nice if some Model3 guru will try to develop patches for SR2 prototypes, or even better - find out why exactly it hangs and fix the real cause in emulation.

In Japanese game magazines
30%, 40%, 70% of development screens were posted
Which version was dumped
I am looking forward to a screenshot
