Logitech G29 Button Remapping

Hi All,

Recently purchased Logitech G29 Steering Wheel and it seems to be a decent enough piece of Kit. ;)

I've searched through nearly every article on the G29 Steering wheel but cannot find the answer I'm looking for.

Does anyone know what is the highest joystick button on the G29 that is supported by Supermodel? I'm trying to remap player 1/2 "Start" button to button 24 e.g. JOY1_BUTTON24 with no luck in the Supermodel, Also tried assigning Button 24 keys 1 + 2 in the Logitech software with no luck either...

Default setting is:
P1 Start = Key_1, JOY1_BUTTON9
P2 Start = Key_2, JOY2_BUTTON9

Any info would be appreciated.

thanks again,

MJ

Isn't it strictly dependant on the game and what you PC picks up? Did you set everything up manually or via the dos screen? You could have 1000 buttons on your steering wheel or even a joystick. As long as your PC acknowledge all 1000 buttons then it's down to you to assign button 600 to do a single punch in Virtua Fighter, so to say. Supermodel won't care for as far as it's concerned, button 600 is assigned to do whatever you requested it to do.

Any takers on this problem? Anyone have a similar Logitech wheel?

What I do when I want to assing a specific button on Supermodel and for whatever reason the -config-inputs refuses to works (or I screw things myself ), I use a web page to identidy each button number and then set that on the .ini file manually.
Here it is what I use: https://gamepad-tester.com/ with a generic usb snes controller that I have laying around

Finally found time to fix this issue, I just used the Logitech Wheel software to map key "1" to the centre button on the right. The reason I think this was not working previously was I had multiple profiles for the steering.

I've also uncovered another issue with the Logitech G29 Software or it could be how Supermodel drives the wheel. Its not related to latest builds either as I first noticed it in v830 and also in v838 too - Quitting a game sometimes leaves the wheel in a funny state, e.g. if its set to 300 degrees of movement , it sometimes can get confused and looses the end stops for the far left and right on the wheel, so you could effectively turn the wheel beyond 300 degrees which is set in the logitech software. I now restart the Logitech software between different games, just to be sure and this is helps a lot. If I play Sega Rally 2, then quit out of it then play Scud Race and the controls feel odd (I've then adjusted many times before) without realising why it was happening.

I also noted a post some time ago about someone having an issue with a Logitech wheel where they felt they needed to constantly adjust it. He clearly has been having the same issues as me..

Well impressed with the v838 build though, but cannot get force feedback to work on Lemans 24, although I have enabled it in the config.ini under the [ lemans24 ] specific section. Any advice would be appreciated !!

thanks

MJ

Update Lemans24 - Force feedback - Enabled in v840 - it uses the driver board technology from Scud (epr-18261.bin) and to be present in the lemans.zip file although not tested yet !!
