Well gentlemen, after many blood, sweat and tears, I can happily report that I have emerged from this fight with the CHAMIONSHIP BELT!!!!!!! That's right, I TKO'ed that sonuvabitch!!!!

Turns out my hunch was right....I needed to remove my video drivers completely, before re-installing them. Takes a while and kind of a pain in the ass, but alas it was worth it. Now Daytona 2 and Scud display NO graphical errors as mentioned earlier, no missing geometry as far as I can see, and looks like their normal selves(other than a few small graphical glitches in Daytona that are already known...slight slowdown, car paint panels, etc). Bart I know your shader suggestion had nothing to with this particular problem, but I can't tell you how much I appreciate you taking the time to attempt to help me and making various suggestions. That shows you have character, and actually care about your emulator and the people who use it. Thanks a bunch!

And thank you Nuezxx as well amigo! You tried to me also and it's appreciated :)

On another note, I have read about Nik's little breakthrough with getting SM to run a bit faster by using another thread, and I can't wait to try out the new version. It's gonna rock no doubt! Keep up the good work guys 8-)

I'm baffled by why this helps but I'm glad to hear it's working for you now. Do you remember enough about the process to post step-by-step instructions? If you have the spare time and would be willing to go through the process again and take screenshots of each step (PNG images), it would be much appreciated. I could then update the FAQ with specific instructions. I'm sure this will come in handy for future driver updates as well.

Bart it's really not that baffling if you think about it. I have discovered that this method is recommended by almost all gamers, because often times there are small little remnants of the previous driver floating around after installing over the latest ones "blanket" style. And that can cause conflicts with certain programs like emulators and games.

As for the process of uninstalling, it basically boils down this:

1)Run the AMD setup.exe file

2)Select Express Uninstall and let it uninstall all components of the driver and CCC

3)Delete any leftover folders on your C:\ drive that the uninstaller hasn't finished removing before the restart.

(optional)4)Restart your PC in safe mode and run a program called "Driversweeper". I personally did NOT do this, as feel it isn't quite mandatory for the fresh install, but some have recommended it as extra insurance

4)Reboot your machine and run the AMD setup.exe file again, and this time select Express Installation. Let it install Catalyst Control Center.

Voila! Fresh off the press AMD drivers with no conflicts and no leftover remnants from the previous drivers.

Hope this helps :)

It's baffling to me :) What are these 'little remnants'? I can imagine configuration info being left over and then parsed improperly but it's hard for me to imagine the driver code not being installed properly. I would think it would either work or blow up spectacularly. Leave it to ATI to figure out a way ;)

Thanks for the instructions. At some point, I will update the FAQ with this information and those screenshots you posted earlier.
