Roooolllling start........

Postby raidendx » Tue Oct 04, 2011 3:20 pm

Check this out.....finally....:>
Can you name the classic game....the rumor was true - originally found in the Australian classification boards...
It will hopefully be out before Christmas.....

It will most probabely be the Dreamcast version + (here's hoping additional tracks from Daytona 2) + multiplayer support.
I doubt if they will upscale the model2 game seeing as the Dreamcast version had more tracks etc....

They better actually test the game with a wheel as the Dreamcast version handling was slightly off...

Watch the video....

Let's go awayyy....

What he meant is that SEGA confirmed that Daytona USA will be back, but they didn't say if it would be a port, a port reescaled in 720p or a remake with today graphics. Also they didn't mention if it will be for PSN, xbox live, both .... or in physical format (I doubt it) . All we know for now is that Daytona USA will be back and nothing else.

I don't know about the neo geo stuff you said

This sweapstakes blog entry is basically a confirmation from Sega that it's coming. Before that it was just a rumor - now its definately coming.

Based on the sweepstakes comp it's definately coming for PSN
"For those with the skills (10 randomized winners from correctly guessed games), we’re giving away the very game that we’re asking you to name on the PlayStation 3 platform!"

It will be available via XBLA as the Australian classification board entry lists it as multi-platform.

Daytona USA 2001 (Dreamcast) with multiplayer support is the their easiest option seeing as they released the Dreamcast Collection #1 earlier this year.

Either way at least it's finally going to see the light of day...

I think the title is "Daytona Usa 2001", but could also be "Sega Racing Classic" port.

Raw Thrills own the Daytona license IIRC, this means Sega can not use Daytona USA name/flag.. So if it's a port it will be Sega Racing Classics.

Anyone with a PC just use Elsemi's M2 emulator as it the second best thing from owning the real PCB.

Yeah, Model 2 emulated Daytona USA is pretty much like having a Daytona USA arcade machine in your living room. I've absolutely played the original Daytona to death on M2 Emu, but I'd still buy a direct port of the original Daytona arcade game on PSN if it offered decent online and multiplayer support. I've currently got three different M2 setups on my PC, one for standalone gameplay, two linked emulators in a separate folder for 2 player LAN splitsceen/dual screen multiplayer and four linked emulators in a different folder again for 4 player LAN splitsceen/dual screen multiplayer. It'd be nice to be able to just do it all using the one game at the press of a button on my PS3. I've seen a few videos of online networked M2 Emu Daytona, but I've never tried it myself.

I suspect though, as other people have mentioned, this'll probably just be a straight port of the Dreamcast version. If they can sort out the DC version's dodgy handling, make it HD and, as above, it offers decent online and multiplayer options, I'd probably still get it (providing it was under a tenner).

How does Sega Racing Classic compare to Daytona USA anyway?

HD?
Widescreen?
Textures?
Music?

I've not encountered a Sega Racing Classic's machine in real-life, but I believe it's the exact same game, only with all references to Daytona removed from it (I believe this extends as far as the song lyrics as well) and in HD.
