Hi Bartzenegger,

Yes, technically it's certainly possible to use a lightgun for Star Wars Trilogy, or indeed any game for that matter.

Lightguns normally present themselves as a mouse to the system, so all you would need to do is map the mouse's x- and y-axes to the InputAnalogJoyX and InputAnalogJoyY inputs in Supermodel.ini. In fact, I think the default Supermodel.ini is already setup this way.

Whether or not it would be suitable to play the game with though, I have no idea :-) !

Cheers, Nik.

The problem with light guns is they normally only update position when you pull the trigger. (Arcade games like Operation Thunderbolt actually used a fake gun mounted on an analog joystick instead of a light gun to get around that problem, so we get a steady stream of people disappointed that it plays like crap in MAME with an actual light gun). So my guess is it wouldn't play well for SWT at all :)

Of course, the newer LCD-compatible guns (which aren't guns at all but work more like the Wiimote) largely don't have that problem.

Yes, they will - I also have the AimTrak's (and love them!) and they work very well with Supermodel :-) Having said that I've not played Star Wars Trilogy with one, just Lost World, but it should function fine. These guns are the LCD-compatible type, so, as Arbee says in his previous post, you won't lose control of the cursor when not pressing the trigger, which is handy ;-)

If you have two of these puppies, you can also get dual lightguns working in Lost World which is awesome - you just need to configure Supermodel to use the RawInput input system for dual gun support (see the README.txt for more details).

Cheers, Nik.

I have Star Wars Trilogy running with my Aimtrak lightgun. It is awesome and highly accurate. In fact, I cannot score as high with my analog joystick as I can with the Aimtrak in SWTrilogy. The only catch is that the lightsaber battles are near impossible with a lightgun.

I thought I could just switch to my joystick when the lightsaber duels come up. Unfortunately, when I have it configed for both lightgun and joystick on the same game, the joystick control acts all wonky. The cursor gets jumpy when using the joystick. I even tried with rawinput.

So, dual lightguns config'd for the same game work but not lightgun+joystick on the same game.
