For £150 quid I got myself a minty g25 and whilst it's not compatible with "every" console it suits my model2,3,mame purposes...
Horses for courses really...plus not everyone has the space to put a "full blown" cockpit setup in their house...
Of course, many people don't have space for a full cockpit setup, my friend. The isamu request post was for inspiration and the immediate purchase aim is for the force feedback Steering wheel, Gear Shift and Pedals. Anyhow, that's not the point of my post and maybe I could have been a little clearer.
The point is, its a waste of money to purchase any steering wheel like the one shown in the OT because the "experience" will not be significant, nor impressionable than using your normal joypad. If you are going to get a steering wheel, then its honestly MUCH better to get something that you know that A) will make an impact difference to your gameplay experience, B) possible to use on all machines you got. So for that, it's all about the G25 (like you said), G27, or the immensely better that will make you go insane and gain friends you never knew, the Fanatec range. At least, buy purchasing these wheels, you'll be able to play all the fantastic racing games in the form that they supposed to be played, including games like RIDGE RACER running on MAME that also feature strong Force Feedback controls.
TrojanX. Your explanation is spot on mate. In fact, it is my friend, the sole reason why I have played this new Daytona game a grand total of.....
THREE times! That's right, as much enthusiasm as I
*appeared* to have in the NeoGaf thread, I've barely touched the damn game. I simply haven't had the motivation to play the console version of Daytona, due to my wheel not being compatible with either Xbox or PS3. I wrote about this at the GF thread as well...
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/646535-d ... a/60922230In all honesty, the announcement of Daytona USA had a bittersweet effect on me. I was initially happy to know such a classic game finally made it home in "next gen" format, and am grateful to Sega for giving it to us, but at the same token, was not excited about it due to the steering wheel dilemma.
I mean think about it dude....look at my video. Look at what I have access to. Do you really think I can enjoy Daytona USA with a gamepad,
knowing I can play the same game with that killer wheel, by simply starting up El Semi's magnificent Model 2 emulator? It is a catch 22 and it's burning me up inside. The best thing I can hold out hope for, is for ECCI to obtain a license to create a driver for their steering wheels making it compatible with home consoles. God knows I would seriously turn cartwheels buck naked in the middle of the street if that were to happen.
