NEW X360 Wheel for superemu

Postby model4 » Wed Nov 09, 2011 4:55 am

Hi,

i will buy shortly the new racing wheel for 360.
With an wireless adaptater, it's possible to play with on a PC.
First test are very positive, good quality with precision. Cost is about 50$/€.

Somebody got this wheel ?
My impressions with supermodel next time.

I know the price is attractive but I'm going to be REALLY honest with you here to which I hope you take my advice (you probably won't heed my advice anyway but its worth a shot)...

I believe that if anyone want to buy a steering wheel it's best to put in more cash so you can purchase a wheel that not only brings you closer to the arcade experience, but you can also use it on all machines including emus. Isamu and I had a healthy discussion about this and in our opinion, you cannot do yourself any wrong by purchasing one of these babies: http://www.fanatec.de/webshop/new_eu/in ... anguage=en

Don't let the price distract you, it is BEST to do this so you can forget about anything else because you'll always have the arcade experience in your home. Trust me, just have one of these bad boys and soon as your friend touches the wheel, s/he will become your very BEST friend as s/he will be practically living in your home because of the wheel. They are THAT good.

Other than that... Just from looking at the wheel alone I can instantly say that the experience upgrade with this wheel will be next to nil, and you'll come back to your joypad.

Isamu @ now would be a good time to showcase YOUR racing gaming setup like you showcased it over at GAF. I want everyone to see how YOU roll and what people should do to get close enough to the experience you receive for a good price. I.e. Recommendation.

Trojan is right guys, spend a little more and get a real wheel rather than that air wheel. You'll be much happier.

I love the fanatec wheels/setups but christ are they pricey!! Not soooo bad if you live in the states but, in the u.k. at least, it costs a fortune to own a full fanatec setup due to the exchange rate and import duties...
For £150 quid I got myself a minty g25 and whilst it's not compatible with "every" console it suits my model2,3,mame purposes... :)

Horses for courses really...plus not everyone has the space to put a "full blown" cockpit setup in their house...

Of course, many people don't have space for a full cockpit setup, my friend. The isamu request post was for inspiration and the immediate purchase aim is for the force feedback Steering wheel, Gear Shift and Pedals. Anyhow, that's not the point of my post and maybe I could have been a little clearer.

The point is, its a waste of money to purchase any steering wheel like the one shown in the OT because the "experience" will not be significant, nor impressionable than using your normal joypad. If you are going to get a steering wheel, then its honestly MUCH better to get something that you know that A) will make an impact difference to your gameplay experience, B) possible to use on all machines you got. So for that, it's all about the G25 (like you said), G27, or the immensely better that will make you go insane and gain friends you never knew, the Fanatec range. At least, buy purchasing these wheels, you'll be able to play all the fantastic racing games in the form that they supposed to be played, including games like RIDGE RACER running on MAME that also feature strong Force Feedback controls.

TrojanX. Your explanation is spot on mate. In fact, it is my friend, the sole reason why I have played this new Daytona game a grand total of.....THREE times! That's right, as much enthusiasm as I *appeared* to have in the NeoGaf thread, I've barely touched the damn game. I simply haven't had the motivation to play the console version of Daytona, due to my wheel not being compatible with either Xbox or PS3. I wrote about this at the GF thread as well...

In all honesty, the announcement of Daytona USA had a bittersweet effect on me. I was initially happy to know such a classic game finally made it home in "next gen" format, and am grateful to Sega for giving it to us, but at the same token, was not excited about it due to the steering wheel dilemma.

I mean think about it dude....look at my video. Look at what I have access to. Do you really think I can enjoy Daytona USA with a gamepad, knowing I can play the same game with that killer wheel, by simply starting up El Semi's magnificent Model 2 emulator? It is a catch 22 and it's burning me up inside. The best thing I can hold out hope for, is for ECCI to obtain a license to create a driver for their steering wheels making it compatible with home consoles. God knows I would seriously turn cartwheels buck naked in the middle of the street if that were to happen.

Trust me, I know exactly what you mean. There isn't anything wrong with the PSN and Xbox version of the game as it's everything that we hoped for, but without a Force Feedback steering wheel, its kinda like being restricted to drive a kickass Ferrari in a rush-hour city. I think in order to people to really understand, all they really have to do is take their new Daytona racing skills back to the their local arcades (that got a multi-player version of the game) and have a good play session with their friends. Once they do that, they'll probably develop a massive urge to purchase a damn good force feedback steering wheel so they can always relive that amazing experience.

So yes, I completely understand your actions and your dilemma is a real shame because the original Force Feedback arcades' setting are featured in the game. Are you sure there isn't any adapter that you can buy so you can play your wheel on both the PS3 and/or Xbox360? Isn't the PS3 more flexible for accepting different types of controllers than the Xbox?

Model4, check out that video. Seriously, that wheel is a WASTE of money! Save up for a proper steering wheel like the G25, G27 or the Fanatec range.

It would be good to receive your feedback.

OK i got the wheel.

First, i am convinced that a real wheel is better. I got a thrustmaster Force GT with forcefeedback, not the best wheel but good for his price.

Now i test the microsoft wireless wheel.

- It runs great with supermodelemu.
- Sensations are really better than a gamepad but logically not better than a real wheel. The wireless wheel allows you to really keep the good trajectory like a real wheel, it's already not bad !

To conclude :

The wireless wheel can not concurencer a real wheel but improves sensations and gameplay with little price. Ideal too for those who have got a little room.

Thanks for your impression, Model4.

Just as I thought. There you go, folks. Save your money for the real force-feedback racing wheel because it's all about the "feedback" and "handling" experience. If you don't then you'll greatly miss out on such amazing experiences provided by the G25, G27 and the Fanatec steering wheels. Trust me and isamu, they are WORTH PURCHASING more than any other steering wheels and you'll be able to use them on the next-gen machines.
