Yes! I still don't have a wheel so I've been playing like this for a while. (letting us map the steering to the mouse is a real godsend!)

Almost got past the 2'47 barrier, but I messed up in the very last sector...

uber, I want you to be my Uber driver. We'll replace the steering wheel with a mouse. It's all drive-by-wire these days, anyway!

Sign me up!

On another note, 2'46 territory has been finally reached during a practice run today - so just barely good enough to get a place in the marubaku leaderboards

I wasn't expecting any of the runs to be upload-worthy so all I can share is an impromptu shadowplay recording with whatever i was listening to at the time (so feel free to mute it and play the proper game music instead!!). Hopefully it won't be that hard to break this record again, and then it'll be time to move on to the other courses.

Yup that's my buddy, he's insane. Also most of the stuff I learned about the game was thanks to him explaining how to pull off the drifts and where to steer, especially in the Advanced course with things like the last turn of the track where you gotta get your car in the grass and shift gears as soon as you come out.

Also I realized I never ended up posting my runs for the Expert and Challenge/Mix course for Daytona USA 2 PE, I did these around 4 months ago and I don't plan coming back to those tracks because they were incredibly frustrating to get better times at, but I wanna improve my PBs on Advanced and Beginner soon.

Expert T.A. 3'45"333

Mix T.A 2'54"456
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PJjR5X13ajQ

There was also this Sega Rally (Arcade version played on Nebula emulator) run I got not that long ago where I got 3'20"57 but I recently been attempting to learn the wall hit turn technique, there's like 3 places where you can do this in the game but I'm only going to be doing it in one single turn for the Mountain stage, if I manage to beat my old record while doing this strat I'll be sure to share it here, it can save like a whole second...

I actually took part in some online Daytona USA 1 games with Curepunk recently. Needless to say I got absolutely thrashed.

Well I ended up practicing the wall hit turn technique in Sega Rally, using two out of the three turns where you can do this that I'm aware of, and it indeed helps a lot, almost a full second faster than my previous PB:

Sega Rally - 3'19"65

Also here's my older run with normal driving for comparison: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BYtzJ6_7hjk

Edit: attempted to use the third wall hit turn, don't think it went as intended, but I got a faster time by a whole second! 3'18"58: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A9zkw4K47LQ
What makes the difference is the final two turns, you have to do them in second gear while cutting as deep as possible, just remember to not touch the dirt with the front tires or you'll spin.

FInally beat the marubaku video on youtube by a couple of ms, but I know I can go a bit faster still. Full video should be up soon, unless I get a better time today :D

I already told you earlier today but I wanna say huge congrats again for achieving such an amazing feat!! if you upload that then it'd be (afaik) the fastest video recording available on the internet for Daytona 2's Advanced Course time attack  :!:

What settings are you using with your G29? My wheel feels so janky, I still can't get nowhere near the times I would get 8 years ago playing with an x360 controller..
