Scud Race Plus FMV intro

Postby VirtuaHunter » Mon Feb 05, 2018 4:08 am

Hello

As you know, there is a pre-render CG intro in Scud Race Plus, it appears after the normal attract demo.
Unfortunately it suffers major slowdowns, it runs at 1-2 fps, I tried to change che ppc frequency to 51 but it doesn't make difference.

I know there are other priority for supermodel of course, but I just want to ask for curiosity would it be possible to achieve in future the perfect emulation of the CG intro? I imagine it's a difficult task especially if there are some strange codecs in action.

It's a frame timing issue. We've spent a lot of time and made a lot of progress but it still needs more investigation.

nice, so there is hope even for this intro?

At the time Sega was using CinePak codec for Saturn games, is it the same here?

It probably is something like the Cinepak codec. But without reverse engineer the assembly (which would be an enormous task) very difficult to confirm.
The timing issue is a really difficult problem and a lot of time has already been spent on it.

it has something to do with the clock speed, because when i set the clock speed to 166, i got it to run faster than the audio
Sega has made interesting hardware back in those days, the model 1, naomi, and don't forget the all custom hikaru!
