Sound question

Postby gareth_iowc » Tue Dec 14, 2021 4:07 pm

When playing daytona on the real arcade cabinet, did the audio for the pit crew come out of seat speakers only or am I dreaming?

If so would it be possible to split the audio in the emulator?

Try to play with the -balance option. I found that the "-balance=-50" option works well with DU2PE for me, though in BOTE it's still not sounds quite right.

This is because this emulator has not yet implemented a 5.1 surround feature that Model 3 uses although Supermodel updated to SDL2 which makes support of 5.1 surround. This requires a massive rewrite of the audio code.

Might not be too heavy of a lift but would definitely require a rewrite. I hadn't really dealt with audio code before Supermodel so what I've implemented is kind of a catastrophe. I even do my own mixing and re-sampling of the DSB audio with the SCSP. These should all be separate and SDL2 should do all of the heavy lifting.
