Nik has informed me that he just spotted a bug in the force feedback code that may be responsible for some of your problems. He'll probably be getting in touch with you privately to send a test build. I'm thinking that we'll wait another week or so before putting out a v0.21a with some minor bug fixes (no new features) and tweaks.

That is good news. I can concur that Scud Race's ffb effects are a lot softer than I remembered. Seems the analog steering is a bit more sensitive than Daytona 2's as well. But then again that may just be the nature of high performance race cars vs Stock cars :D

Hi isamu,

If the effects feel too soft, then you can make them stronger by playing with the following options in Supermodel.ini:

DirectInputConstForceMax
DirectInputSelfCenterMax
DirectInputFrictionMax
DirectInputVibrateMax

Please see the README.txt for explanations of what they all mean.

It would be impossible for us to supply stock values that worked for everyone, so it really is a case of playing
around with them until you find something that works for you. It should be okay to use values greater than
100% but currently you may experience problems if you do so due to the bug that RetroRepair has
discovered. Hence, you may want to wait until we issue a fix.

I should also mention that on real machines, the steering strength is determined by some DIP switch settings
on the drive board itself and also, with Sega Rally, by altering a setting accessible through the service menu.
The machines you've played on in the past may have been configured with stronger or weaker feedback
settings. Currently there is no way to change the emulated DIP switch setting within Supermodel but that's
something we could add in a future version. However, you can of course change the service menu setting for
Sega Rally in the current build.

As for the steering sensitivity, you can also tweak this a bit by playing with the axis saturation setting.
Again, please see the README.text for more details.

Hope that helps, Nik.

I just found a spare stock driving force wheel in the loft :)

I will plug it in later and see if the same issue occurs.

I tested an unmodified Driving Force wheel and the same problems are present.

bandicoot, can you try this:

Set your force settings all to 100 in the ini
Load Scud Race and go to drive board test
Test left roll/right roll and see if one is stronger than the other

If you don't get any movment at all, try changing the ini settings to 200 and see if one is stronger than the other?

@RETROREPAIR : i try , i need to increase DirectInputConstForceMax to 20 but you loose some effect

BUT i have an idea
If you test the model 2 emulator nebula you can see the sensitvity of analog is not the same
perhaps we need to increase the sensitivity for us driving config
( IF THINK IT'S THE REAL SEGA FEELING :P :P :P )

Hi bandicoot,

What effect(s) do you lose exactly by doing this?

What do you mean by the "sensitivity of analog"? Do you mean the sensitivity of the steering, ie the range of values you get when you rotate the wheel? If so, then this will have no effect on the force feedback strength.

Or do you mean the strength of the force feedback effects in Model 2's emulator.ini file? If so, then these options are pretty much identical to the DirectInputConstForceMax, DirectInputSelfCenterMax, DirectInputFrictionMax and DirectInputVibrationMax config options in Supermodel's configuration file.

Or is there another setting or configuration option in the Model 2 emulator that you're referring to?

Thanks, Nik.

PS Nice driving setup in the link you gave - is that yours (my French isn't very good :-) !) ?
