Anyone figured out how to calibrate mouse for Ocean Hunter

I want to play all light gun games available for Model 3, I got Lost World to work.. and tho the aim was a bit off, it was good enough without me needing to change any settings.
Now I am trying to get Ocean Hunter to work, and while the game accepts mouse input, it stuck at the bottom of the screen. After searching around, I read I need to go into Test Menu and choose Gun Calibration.... only problem is that there is no option at all to calibrate gun there like in LA Machine Guns or Lost World..anyone ever get the game to work?

No calibration necessary. The game uses the same analog gun inputs as LA Machineguns. If they are not responding, they are probably not mapped globally. I just tried Ocean Hunter and coincidentally had the same problem.

Supermodel now allows inputs to be specified globally or per-game. If there is no per-game setting, the global one is used. If you do:

Code: Select all
supermodel <game> -config-inputs

The inputs will be configured only for that specific game. I had done this for LA Machineguns. It appears we are lacking default mappings for analog guns so when I ran Ocean Hunter, it used the global settings, which had these inputs unmapped. The solution is to either map the inputs for Ocean Hunter or, better yet, globally:

Code: Select all
supermodel -config-inputs

When you omit the game, Supermodel will update the global input settings to fallback to.

Alternatively, you can edit Supermodel.ini directly and set things up there.

Yeah the .ini file does not even mention Ocean Hunter, I think that is the problem. Its probably cause the game is barely playable so the dev didn't bother, the emulator has been abandoned right?

I would assume these lines in the .ini file would automatically make it work:

; Light guns
InputGunLeft = "KEY_LEFT" ; digital, move gun left
InputGunRight = "KEY_RIGHT" ; digital, move gun right
InputGunUp = "KEY_UP" ; digital, move gun up
InputGunDown = "KEY_DOWN" ; digital, move gun down
InputGunX = "MOUSE_XAXIS,JOY1_XAXIS" ; analog, full X axis
InputGunY = "MOUSE_YAXIS,JOY1_YAXIS" ; analog, full Y axis

I feel so dumb, after asking around... it turns out there is a newer version than 0.2... the website is confusing as it makes it seem that is the latest one. Ocean Hunter works perfectly without calibration in latest build.

Ocean Hunter is not a light gun game. It’s an analog gun game — a gun mountain on two rotating axes.

Ah I see! I forget often times alot of these arcade games have unique cabinets, like the game "Magical Truck Adventure"... no idea what the controls are but I know the cabinet was something different like a crank you would pull up and down.

If you need to calibrate Ocean Hunter, it's in the service menu under "volume adjustments". I never would have thought to look there. It takes some trial and error. For player 1, I calibrated as if the screen was farther left compared to where it is. And for player 2 I calibrated to the right. I was able to get pretty good results. Never going to be perfect with a lightgun since it was an analog game, but got it close enough to be really fun with the Sinden lightgun.
