Gear Shifter Problem- Scud Race

Postby garyliucanton » Fri Jul 02, 2021 6:41 am

Hello Supermodel World :)

I am new but super friend of Scud Race. Thanks to hte team's wonderful work on Supermodel, I was able to play Scud Race on PC now!

To simulate the game play, I saved money for a long time to buy a set of steering wheel and gear shifter (Thrustmaster, a commonly used brand for racing device) and tried to install them to scud race in Supermodel.The steering wheels perfectly works and I have amazing game play experience under automatic mode in scud race!

However, I have trouble with the gear shifter device – cannot map the shifter device in the config of Supermodel.

When open the Control Panel in Win10 (I have produce some print screen in the attached document), I can see two device connected via USB port. One for the steering wheel (normally recognized by Super Model as Joystick1). The other one for the gear shifter – seems Super Model was not yet able to recognize this device? The gear shifter- the hardware, was not integrated with the steering wheel, so they are occupying two USB port respectively. I guess the software driver for the gear shifter was written under the HiD USB mode.

When I run -config-input command, supermodel could recognize two headwares - one for the sterring wheel and the other for the USB gear shifter. When I press "b" to try to calibrate the dear shifter, it pops up to recognize the shifter as a "joystick with X Aixs and Y Aixs". Then when I perform calibrating following the instruction, after 3 steps of calibration, it failed, and pop up the following message:

"There was a problem calibrating the axis. This may be because the steps were not followed correctly or the joystick is sending invalid data."

Asking me to retry, but again and again, it still failed. The fact is that the dear shifter hardware is a 8-button stuff but the program of supermodel.exe recognize that as a "joystick with X Aixs and Y Aixs".

What should I do to fix this problem..please?

=====================================================

Here below are my device details (some print screens are attached to this article):

Shifter (occupied another USB port)

Control Pannel View on Win10
Showing two device connected via USB port. One for the steering wheel (normally recognized by Super Model as Joystick1). The other one for the gear shifter – seems Super Model was not yet able to recognize this device?

As open from the control pannel, the gear shifter has 8 buttons (see the green buttons numbered 1 to 8 in the above print screen). However, if I map the control of gear 1234 (in Scud Race) to buton 1234 of this gearing shfiter, it does not work in Scud Race….

I also try to use some mapping software by mapping th button 1-4 on the gear shifter to the KeyBoard QWER rescpetively, but after entering into Scud Race, it still doesn’t work….

Could some one please give me some technical guidance on how to fix this problem..? Many thanks!!
