Problem in racing games with mouse

Postby beatle » Sat Sep 24, 2011 7:51 pm

If i map mouse_xasis in input steering to choose circuit or car in racing games, when the race starts the car goes to the left or to the right depending the direction i took in the circuit and car selection screens.
I think that with an autocenter setting for the mouse, this wouldn't happen.

P.S.:My gamepad isn't analogic.

Well I would not even think about to set the Mouse as Steering Axes :)

The Explain is very simple. Supermodel uses the same Axes for Steering and of course for the Game Selection. On the original Arcade Machine you choose the track with a Wheel too.

If you set it to mouse, which is impressive, cause Supermodel even supports this, will be a result of good Choosing in the Menu, but a very shaky Steering cause of the sensivity of the Mouse.

I hope this helps you :)

Btw...Buy a Wheel :)

Can you give us some more information? Did you map the mouse X axis to the analog steering input, or did you map the "steer left" and "steer right" inputs individually?

I think the obvious solution is just to learn to move the mouse slightly back to the right after choosing a course. In future versions, we can enable the mouse cursors for non-lightgun games. Right now, cursors cannot be displayed (even when pressing Alt-I) for non-lightgun games. They only work in Lost World.

I mapped "steer left" and "steer right" with my digital gamepad and "input steering" with mouse_xaxis.

Sounds right. Have you tried getting a feel for how far the mouse has to be moved back to re-center the car? I'm wondering if you can also try to press and hold the digital controls to stabilize the car and then switch over to the mouse. But the bottom line is, without a visual guide, it'll be hard for you to get the mouse right unless you are running in windowed mode (in which I assume this problem does not exist because you can see the cursor).

Well i solved the problem connecting a Xbox360 pad to the PC.
My digital gamepad , wich i use for all my emulators, isn't very useful to play the racing games in Supermodel emulator.

Thanks for the answer and thank you for this awesome emulator.
