Supermodel through EmulationStation on the Steam Deck

Has anyone gotten this working? I tried the old Linux build EmulationStation links to in their documentation and I can't get that one to work, and when setting it up using the Windows build, I get errors that it cant find the config file and games.xml, despite it outputting its log into the config folder where those are at. I can run it raw through steam, but it would be great to get it working on the deck through EmulationStation. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
