In your video, are you using the legacy engine or a shader? The dirt is still throwing up those glitchy shapes.

I haven't done any alteration from the SVN that I downloaded. How do I switch between the two?

To help, the svn used is 474.

Oh. Well, I don't know how you like to launch your games, but you can add

New3DEngine = 1

to your Supermodel.ini (found in the config folder, do you have one?) to enable the new engine for all games.

Sometimes launch direct from a bat file and often launch from the Supermodel UI v0.6 (build 078).

I tried the code but thus far, I don't see any difference for Sega Rally 2. I put the code here (below), is it in the right place?

;****
;*** Configuration file autogenerated by Supermodel UI® (v0.6 build 78)
;****

[ Global ]

;****
;*** User preferences
;****

XResolution = 2560
YResolution = 1600
Throttle = 0
WideScreen = 1
MusicVolume = 90
New3DEngine = 1

;****
;*** General input configuration
;****

InputStart1 = "KEY_A" (((usual button config info from there followed by the SUI config at the very bottom of the file))).

EDIT: Ah! I see the skin marks are much better now. Same as the arcade. Is there anything else I should note on Sega Rally 2 with the new engine activation? Anything with Virtua Fighter 3?

I forget the things the new engine has fixed/improved in SR2 and don't play VF3 so I'll let someone else answer that :) You should see a big difference with Harley if you play it, although Ski Champ looks better in the Legacy engine unless Ian has fixed the snow.

And yes, it goes in the Global section so that's correct. If you want to use it with a .bat file you add -new3d as an option.

Thank you very much. I will keep analyzing SEGA RALLY 2 though, so far, it practically a clean version of the game. Fantastic! There is still a dual-music issue though that happens on the Rivera and on the Challenge stage options (one type of music appear on the right speaker and a different type appear on the left), but graphically many things in Sega Rally appears solid.

Unfortunately, for VF3, the new engine completely breaks the game with the engine running too fast and glitches appearing. The old engine result in the game playing excellent but with the usual old issues (e.g. brown solid wall appearing on Jacky's stage, sky missing on Aoi's stage, etc).

I haven't. The issue is its rendering the wrong micro texture. The legacy engine doesn't support the micro textures so its unaffected. We just need to find in memory where it sets up the layout of the microtextures

Strange, vf3 looks great with the new engine.
I don't know why you may have those glitches.
I think you can try chanching the ppc frequency.
I have it on 66 for vf3.
Thats the original frequency of the model 3 step 1.0

Thanks for the heads up. I'm going to give it a shot right now. I'll give you the report back here with my findings.

EDIT: Great. I've forgotten how to set the PPC Frequency from the bat file (I think you can). Can someone tell me how to do it as I want to set the PPC to 66 for VF3 specifically?

Just tried SVN 474 last night. Wow, Sega Rally 2 is looking even more awesome-tastic now. Great job Bart and Ian!
