Japanese internet is pretty fast, not sure how fast but it's certainly good enough for fighting games like Virtua Fighter ESports and Street Fighter V.

Not sure on how they are doing it, but I've been told there are some really strong network programmers working on it. It's an amazing collaboration. I've played the patched version linked in the video, I have to say it's getting really close to the original hardware now! What an amazing emulator Supermodel is.

These are modified versions of Supermodel? Supermodel is a GPL-licensed emulator so if binaries with no source code are being posted anywhere, that's a violation of the license agreement. They must release the source code if they are distributing a modified version of Supermodel.

As far as I'm aware, all that's been patched in the version I downloaded is to have the frame rate to run at 57.5fps rather than running at the default 60fps. There's a comparison video showing the speed difference compared to OG hardware, and 57.440 (57.5fps) is nigh on perfect.

I have no idea whether that breaks the license agreement as I'm just a random guy on the internet, but, I'd expect if anything in the source code has been changed in the above videos then they would be happy to share their findings if they were asked to do so. I've posted the links above and someone can ask the uploader if they choose to, it's not a secret as the videos are public. I don't think anything untoward is going on, it's just Supermodel is so good now @57.5fps that even old school Japanese SpikeOut players are impressed and they are spreading the word.

I'm pretty sure it's only a violation if they actually distribute the binaries. There is no link for binaries.

Don't worry -- I am not upset. I am very happy to see people experimenting with SUPERMODEL, enjoying it, and sharing their creations. I just want to make sure that SUPERMODEL and all its derivatives remain open to everyone. If you are posting a binary created from modified source code, the source code should also be accessible somewhere. You can post it separately or include it with the binary distribution.
