Joystick set up

Postby Outrun » Mon Nov 14, 2011 4:05 pm

Hi , and well done Bart on what a great emulator ! I stupidly changed the controls in the option menu on the front end of version 0.1 and now cant get the joystick to work on all the driving games , Ive tried deleting saved files but with no joy , please can someone help , they run smoother on my Laptop than v0.2 as the sound slightly slows the emulation . Supermodel seems to run weird on my system which is a duel core 1.8ghx 2g ram geforce 9600 , as I can get Le mans Rocketing around starwars and the lost word running great , scud race about 50fps but a tad slow but the rest of the racing games only okish , why is there such a difference in the fps and speed of all the games ? Thanks.

I can't help with front end issues but you should know that v0.1 and 0.2a have incompatible configuration files. You'll need to run the config utility to map controls. I don't know how front ends handle it, but from the command line, use -config-inputs. To restore the default, out-of-the-box configuration, you need to take Supermodel.ini from the installation zip file and replace the one in your Config folder.

RE: frame rates, some games are more performance-intensive than others, it's as simple as that. I suspect your CPU is a bit under-powered. The 2.2GHz+ processors seem to work best.

I've never heard of PPJoy. Supermodel supports mapping of the mouse to analog axes, so you could just do that instead.

PPjoy appears to be a parallel port joystick driver. I don't understand what it has to do with the mouse.

oh yeah one of his qualities are to emulate a virtual analog joystick by moving X, Y, Z of the mouse ;)

Like I said, you don't need to do that. Supermodel allows you to map the mouse to controls already. As far as I can tell, there should be no need for external applications.

I was wondering how to assign more or less sensitivity.

lines leave here in case anyone wants to experience
InputSteeringLeft = "MOUSE_XAXIS_NEG"
InputSteeringRight = "MOUSE_XAXIS_POS"
