I don't have a Switch, but I've seen some videos of it and I love the aesthetic they've gone for. I've heard it can get a bit frustrating though and there are some elements of the gameplay that aren't that great. If it ever gets ported to PS4 or comes out on Steam at a budget price I'll probably pick it though.

I'd highly recommend checking out Hotshot Racing.

I haven't tried 80s Overdrive either but it is on my switch wishlist.

I'll add Slipstream to the retro-inspired racing game recommendation list, too. It's excellent. https://www.gog.com/game/slipstream

Hotshot racing - I love the driving/boost mechanics and time trial mode but can't stand the rubber band-tastic single player and online where all you need to do is time a boost right at the end.

80's Overdrive seems to use digital controls only, which is really frustrating. The aesthetic is really nice, though.

Oh man, I really wanted to love Slipstream, but I hated the way the drifting in it feels. It feels like they've tried to make a 2D looking racer with an Outrun 2 style Drifting mechanic. Unlike that game though, you seem to suddenly veer to the far left or right side of the screen when you drift, rather than the screen moving around your car. I found it really off-putting. Trying to control your drifts with this odd camera really wasn't to my liking and it makes trying to steer past other cars far harder than it ought to be. It also makes trying to steer around 'S' bends a pain-in-the-arse too.

On a totally unrelated note to any of that - I've been able to organise some 8 Player online games of Daytona USA on the PS3 recently. They've been a lot of fun.

Daytona USA - 8 player (777 Speedway)
Daytona USA - 8 player (Dinosaur Canyon Mirrored)
Daytona USA - 8 player Online (Seaside Street Galaxy)

I was even able to organise a 2 Player Online game of Outrun Online Arcade with one of the guys from the Daytona games. It's great that the online functions of all these old PS3 Sega racers still work in 2020.

OR2FXT2.5 is a good patch, but please someone make one patch to change only the textures of the menu, numbers, fonts, video intro way better, even the intro is bad quality and that makes me sad. Sega should make a remake of Outrun in HD quality with everything made it since day one. Something like a Anniversary Edition. :(

Can you tell me witch option have daytona usa and scud race races in Outrun 2 SE?
