He still has it, apparently: https://twitter.com/exaarcadiaceo/statu ... ndxtmdGu1Q

That said all he really cares about now is his arcade business thing, so sadly I think it’ll probably just rot on his hard drive for all time. You’d think if said business was doing as well as he claims he’d have the dough to release it comfortably by now, so who knows. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Has this ROM been dumped? Or does he own the original board?

He owns the board and claims it’s dumped for ‘preservation’.
…in practice again, there’s more chance it’ll be lost to time on his HDD anyway, but oh well. Especially annoying because only one board exists.

Yeah, I really would love this to see the light of day myself as Fighting Vipers 2 is my favorite Sega fighter (probably in my top 3 fighting games next to Vampire Savior or MvC2 nowadays). I bet it's attract mode and character animations are slightly altered too. The regular game is very rare to find as a PCB let alone 98.06.05 Special Edition and quite possibly the rarest Model 3 game across all steppings. I was lucky to acquire an original set of the game as a partial Christmas gift in 2021, and when I upgrade my arcade stick setup I plan taking it to conventions, or make a deal with someone to operate it in someone's cab at a game center in SC.
Doesn't account for the fact that there's still a bit of sound emulation issues within the SCSP on both respective configs (I'd like to try to look at when I have downtime): the reverb effect in Tokio's stage is absent but the sound test actually has a feature where you can enable the DSP reverb with all the sound effects of the characters, which sadly is broken, but the tracks themselves sound ok. Bahn's stage goes WOAHWHOAWHOA on -new-scsp which is MAME issue. But Mednafen IMO has the best SCSP emulation and allows you to listen to the music of all M2/3 games now. That code's worth looking at.

If is dumped for preservation mame will release eventually. The time it tell when.
