Help Needed Running Daytona USA 2 on a Mavericks MacBook Pro

Postby SupaHairyMonkyBalzDX » Mon Jan 27, 2014 12:26 am

"Hi, everybody!"

"Hi, Dr. Nick!" :D

Hey, first time super-n00bot here. I've been trying to get Daytona USA 2 running because my son is really into Daytona USA 1 right now. I haven't gotten any game that I've wanted to running, but I've concentrated on trying to get Daytona 2 running first. I get as far as the boot up screen. I know how to get past the Network Mode thing in the operators' menu. Once I back out, the game cycles through its startup screens again, I hear the first note of (presumably) attract mode music play, and then CRASH and burn

All it says in Terminal is "Segmentation fault: 11"

I've tried fullscreen and windowed; both were a no go. :(

I'm running a June 2012 MacBook Pro (2.6 Ghz Intel Core i7, 8GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 4000/NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M) running OSX 10.9.1

I saved the error log in the screen that pops up when something crashes in OS X and gets sent to Apple automagically. Should I post it here? It's pretty long, though...

Unfortunately, I'm not on the rMBP team yet :) Much as I'd love a retina MBP with all that flashy SSD gubbins, they just don't hold enough data. IIRC, they only had a 256 or 512GB options at the time of release, and I needed much more than that so I could carry my all music around with me without resorting to lugging around an external HD as well :) I am so looking forward to when higher capacities (1TB+) SSDs start becoming available...

Looks like no one knows how to fix this Mavericks thing right now... Major sad face :( Right now, my son and I make do with listening to the Daytona USA 2 soundtrack in the car to school :D

it seems like the compiling part has been squared away but no one has released a binary of the complied version :(

Well, I will certainly try, hopefully tonight, but I have no idea what I'm doing. I'm just looking around this forum and others for instructions and tips hoping I can execute them successfully :)

Well, I got as far as making sure Xcode and the SDL framework are installed, I opened Xcode aaaaand... yeah. I have no idea what I'm doing :D

Hopefully one out of the probably 5 people in the world wanting to play Model 3 games on their Macs running Mavericks will have the expertise to make a working version and post it online soon :D This is so niche that there's barely anyone around to help
