Postby Dozer316 » Sun Sep 25, 2011 8:39 pm

Thanks all involved for the wonderful work you've done.

Here's a quick vid of Scud Race running on my 4ghz I7 with GTX 480 video and 360 controller.

Working great!

Cool! I love watching these videos. It's like I'm vicariously playing the games myself. :)

In terms of the 360 controller, I've found it to be very good for these games, except for the fact the analog controls are a bit too sensitive. Is there any way to alter sensitivity in Supermodel?

Yes. In the README.txt, look into the saturation settings, described in the config file chapter. By making them larger than 100%, you make it impossible for the steering wheel to be turned all the way. 200%, the maximum, means that when your joystick is fully to the right, the steering wheel will only turn half way. Try values in the range of 110-150 and see if it helps stabilize the steering.

That would be neat! Your v0.2a-WIP video was impressive. But can you pull off a first place finish on the expert-level courses with the F1 or Phantom cars? :)

Emmmm... :? I think not, I never practiced with a manual gears, I have not in my original board. Manual transmision is necessary, to have a level of extreme game to win in advanced circuitry. but I will try. 8-)

Where can I sign up? There's definitely a knack to the drifting in Scud Race, which I don't think I've quite got the hang of yet. I think I'm trying to play it too much like Outrun 2 (where you don't spin out if you over-steer).

I didn't really like Out Run 2 if I'm honest. Compared to games like the Daytona series and Sega Rally, the drifting felt really "on-rails", as if the game was more in control of the car than you. This is a problem afflicting the newer Ridge Racer games, where drifting also feels really awkward.
