Having issues with slowdown

Hello, I picked up Supermodel a couple days ago and I've been having some issues with it. I'm a bit of a noob when it comes to more advanced emulators so I apologize in advance if there's some really obvious fix I never figured out, but here goes:

So I should mention first up that I'm using the Model 3 UI frontend and the Warped Polygon preconfiguration. I booted up Spikeout Final Edition, and everytime I've tried it there's been some major slowdown. The menus run just fine, but once it gets to or even shows actual gameplay it slows to a crawl. I got my computer a RAM upgrade yesterday, and since then it's been....somewhat better but still pretty bad. I redownloaded it from somewhere else afterwards and it had the same issues, so I don't think it's a ROM issue. The PowerPC frequency settings are set to 75 by default in this config, so I fiddled around with it, such as lowering the number or getting it up to a more accurate setting for a Step 2.1 game such as this, and I did notice changes but it stayed pretty slow regardless. To see if it was a game-specific issue, I tested Virtua Fighter 3 and it had the same issues so it's a wider problem. I acknowledge that using preconfigs designed to have your work cut out for you probably makes this harder to get to the bottom of, and I am sorry for that, but this has been kind of a headache regardless and I wanted to ask around.

Here are the specs:

CPU: Intel Core i7-7700
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
RAM: 16 GB

So yeah, I'm kind of at a loss as to what this could be here. Is it a configuration issue, is my computer too underpowered, I don't know so I'd like to get this out there and see if there's anything that can be done. Cheers

Is quad rendering enabled? If so disable it. Also, try the legacy 3D engine to see if the bottleneck is graphics. Unfortunately, the 3D engine is very inaccurate, but it may be ok for some games.

Disabling quad rendering did help! It still wasn't ideal by any means, but a lot of the parts that tripped it up the most beforehand ran much smoother, though still too slow. Legacy 3D runs at full speed, though not without some graphical glitches. So I suppose the issue would be graphics, then?

Yes, it sounds like you are just below the threshold of acceptable hardware for fluid 60FPS performance with the new engine.

ah I see, that sucks but understandable. Guess I'll have to make do for now

Surprised you're struggling with a GTX 1050 Ti as I've got a GTX 1060 3GB and I get at least 150+ fps in most games (when PowerPC speed is set low to prevent CPU bottlenecking).

Not sure if it will help or not but try this: go into the NVIDIA Control Panel, choose Manage 3D settings and set Power management mode to "Prefer maximum performance".
