Controls Resetting on Reboot

Postby Vwreck » Thu Jan 14, 2021 7:07 am

This topic has probably been covered already but Windows 10 will randomly reassign controller ID's on reboot. (sometimes not always) This screws up the key assignments and makes it difficult to reset as my PC is inside of a cockpit cab and not easily accessible.

MAME has a simple fix of making a controller file. Does Supermodel have any fix for this? Sorry if this has been already posted, but I couldn't find it anywhere.

Unfortunately we do not support this. I think someone suggested they could write a patch to make it work and we would welcome that.

Thanks Bart. This seems to be a problem with Windows 10 as I've read that previous versions of Windows didn't rearrange. (at least that's what I read on one of the flight simulator forums)

If someone has the ability to make a fix, I'm certain it would be greatly appreciated. In the meantime, hopefully windows doesn't screw up the order too often.

i’ll pitch in $50 to anyone that can fix this i a patch.

i’ll add on to my findings, there is a dll “devreorder” that addresses this on a system wide or app by app. i can confirm it works. on the model 2 emulator, i have this dll along with the dll ini in the main app folder. when i launch model 2, my joysticks be one enumerated correctly.

but in model 3, i followed the same process and this dll isn’t doing its magic.

this whole joy ids get reassigned in windows is such a pain. 50 to anyone that can fix or address the devreorder dll correctly.

thanks all and keep up the excellent work!
