lost world - lightgun needed? can you use a mouse?

Postby d8thstar » Tue Jan 17, 2012 2:51 pm

hi all,

tweaking my machine a bit, fird up lost world for the first time and trying to play with my trackball (which s a mouse input). but the cursor doesn't move at all. fyi, i can play star wars just fine with the trackball so i know it's set up properly.

so my question, can the game be played with a trackball or does it require a lightgun?

thanks for the great emu and keep up the great work!

Lost World uses the mouse by default. Have you altered the configuration? Check Supermodel.ini and make sure that the lightgun axes are only mapped to the mouse, and not to any other inputs which may be fighting for control. They should be set as follows:

Code: Select all
InputGunX = "MOUSE_XAXIS"
InputGunY = "MOUSE_YAXIS"

it's a weird one. i did have mouse and joystick for the gun lines but i just finished deleting everything except mouse and triggers and that cursor is still locked right in the middle and neither of the buttons fire. here are the lightgun lines from my ini if this helps at all:

; Light guns
InputGunLeft = "NONE" ; digital, move gun left
InputGunRight = "NONE" ; digital, move gun right
InputGunUp = "NONE" ; digital, move gun up
InputGunDown = "NONE" ; digital, move gun down
InputGunX = "MOUSE_XAXIS" ; analog, full X axis
InputGunY = "MOUSE_YAXIS" ; analog, full Y axis
InputTrigger = "KEY_N"
InputOffscreen = "KEY_B" ; point off-screen
InputAutoTrigger = 0 ; automatic reload when off-screen
InputGunLeft2 = "NONE"
InputGunRight2 = "NONE"
InputGunUp2 = "NONE"
InputGunDown2 = "NONE"
InputGunX2 = "NONE"
InputGunY2 = "NONE"
InputTrigger2 = "NONE"
InputOffscreen2 = "NONE"
InputAutoTrigger2 = 0

I'm assuming that it works now? I think the problem was probably that your joystick was fighting for control with the mouse. It's not a problem on my system (I have both the mouse and joystick axes controlling the lightgun and the mouse works fine); I'm using an XBox pad FWIW.

sorry i wasn't clear, it's not working. that is my lightgun config in the ini and still that cursor is locked in the center of the screen and the buttons don't work. going to try and run the config again from scratch, see what happens...

EDIT: oh boy i'm stupid, all good on this end. thanks bart!
