Star Wars Trilogy - Slow Gameplay

Postby gracie1979 » Mon Jan 21, 2013 2:47 pm

Hi,

I'm a newb here and just recently found out about this emulator. I tried out stars wars trilogy and got it loaded and everything is ok except for the gameplay. It just runs like it's in slow motion. I'm assuming it's the pc but wanted to see if anyone could help or if there was a way to speed it up. I have a HP G60 Notebook, Processor: AMD Sempron SI-40 2.00 GHz, Memory (RAM): 3.00GB, 32bit operating system, & a NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Which version of Supermodel are you using? My best guess is that the CPU is a bit too slow to run Supermodel at full speed. If you are using Version 0.2a, Version 0.3a should improve performance a bit when it is released (unfortunately, no date is set at this point because Nik and I have been too busy to work on Supermodel).

Unfortunately, there's not much that can be done in v0.2a. You may try running with a lower PowerPC clock. By default it is set to 50 (MHz) but you can try 33 and 25 and see if that helps:

Code: Select all
supermodel swtrilgy.zip -ppc-frequency=25

Version 0.3a has improved performance on multi-core systems because graphics rendering occurs in a separate thread. There are builds floating around but we do not support this version yet because it has not been officially released (only the source code repository is public). I'm also concerned about the possibility of viruses making their way into builds that are not officially hosted here at supermodel3.com.

Hi,

That code seemed to help from what I could tell. I just played some on Yavin and am going to give the other levels a try later. Out of curiosity, how many fps does it need to run flawlessly? I have read other threads where some of these games need a lot of power to run.

Thanks

Hi hectic,

Yes, I had just run across this emulator recently and wanted to try it out. Unfortunately I don't have a newer desktop to run Supermodel on and the notebook is the only "newer" pc I have to try it out on.

Supermodel needs a very fast CPU and a good GPU to perform well. Full speed is 60 FPS.
