Technical difficulties (NEED HELP)

Postby YM2612 » Fri Mar 10, 2023 5:55 pm

Recently I just got Supermodel by following a tutorial by Wrapped Polygon at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TLbn7OP ... L&index=13, but when I booted up Daytona USA 2: Battle on the Edge in New3DEngine video mode with the Sega Model 3 UI, it was not running at full speed for some reason and the HUD was pushed to the top right and I couldn't see my speedometer or the position number. So, I have a few screenshots down below.

Thanks, it worked. But one last problem of mine is that the games aren't running at a consistent speed. Sometimes the menus are faster, and gameplay is slightly slower than the speed I want, and in some areas of a racetrack (i.e., tunnels) suddenly fasten the game briefly before going slower again. I just need one more solution before I'm fully set.

Sounds like you're using an AMD card. AMD drivers are known to be awful with OpenGL rendering. AMD users have struggled for years.
They released an optional driver a while back which seemed to fix almost all slow downs.

Later drivers were crap again. I've given up trying the very latest drivers. It's too much trouble downloading big files, installing, then uninstalling immediately because the performance is bad.

If you're not happy using old drivers, you can always run Supermodel with -legacy3d. Emulation isn't as accurate, but it's not affected by slow downs.

Just make sure the next card you get is Nvidia.

BTW.
All these user guides that suggest the correct way to install Supermodel is to first download it from a foreign web site, aren't worth watching.
Use official downloads

Actually, I forgot to tell you that my computer is a Dell G15 5511 Gaming laptop with a 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-11800H @ 2.30GHz 2.30 GHz.

Also, when I run it in legacy, it's too fast.

What's your screen refresh rate? You need to either enable vsync or turn on throttle.

120.04 Hz, and even with v-sync and throttle on its still slow. 1920 * 1080 resolution

If you enable vsync without throttle the game will run up to 120 fps, which is 2x the speed it should. For butter smooth video I'd set the refresh rate at 60 or 57.5 if you make a custom resolution.

If it's running too slow your hardware is probably under powered somewhere.

The lowest I could set it was to 60.01 Hz
