Not supermodel related, but there seem to be more people on this forum using separate shifters or driving cabs than on the board I usually discuss MAME on.
If you've tried using a Hi/Lo or H-shifter with the older games in MAME that originally used a Hi/Lo shifter, then you already know about the issue with the shifter being set up as a TOGGLE in MAME. There's only one input and it toggles back and forth between Hi and Lo instead of having separate inputs for Hi & Lo or only one input to engage Hi gear like the original games had.
This build removes the toggle so the game behaves as it did originally.
It is otherwise a plain vanilla version of MAME, complete with nag screens, etc.

You must have a shifter that stays in place to use this build.
The gears will not "hold". This build is useless with paddle or sequential shifters.
I do not know how to code and claim no credit for any part of this fix.
I just manually copied and pasted the lines from Dmod's older diff file found here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=83870.msg876823#msg876823
(affected games are also listed there)
I also managed to fix the taito_Z driver that had been changed more recently.
I have not tested all of the games to make sure they're working correctly. I'm still using v.137 on my cab and compiled my own copy for that.
The input in MAME says Hi Gear, but I remember that being backwards for a lot of the games when I set my driving cab up.
Let me know if you use it and if it works for you.
If you want to compile your own version with other modifications, I attached the modified drivers to Dmod's thread a couple posts up from the bottom. (It's nice to not have nag boxes on Virtua Racing, Chase Bombers, etc.....just don't allow copies of MAME without the "this game isn't 100%" out into the wild! It just confuses the kiddies who then report issues to MAMEtesters or whine about the game not working right.)
